Small Group Life (a guide for new members) a guide for small group members For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them. (Matthew 18:20) What is a small group? A small group is a band of 7 - 12 persons (or as few as 2 - 3) who gather regularly to discuss a biblical text, share joys and concerns, pray for one another and send each other to ministry. By praying together, learning together and supporting one another small groups effectively build disciples. In a small group, all of the marks of a disciple come to life (a heart for Christ alone, a mind transformed by the Word, arms of love, knees for prayer, a voice to speak the Good News, and a spirit of servanthood and stewardship.) At their best, small groups become a member’s spiritual home (remember how the apostle Paul always returned to Antioch). Where is your Antioch? What is involved in joining a small group? Commitments Priority. 2. Prayer 3. Absolute Confidentiality 4. Punctuality 5. Personal devotional time 6. No advice giving unless requested 7. No argument 8.
