
The library is located to the left of the main entry to the building, across from the “café.”
The Library is open whenever the church is open.
We have a self-serve checkout system. There are detailed instructions for checking out materials at the counter just inside the door of the library and everything you need to check out material is on that counter.
All materials will be due three weeks from the week it is checked out.
To return material there is a basket just as you enter the library. It is clearly marked “Return Books Here”. Videos and tapes should also be returned in the basket.
If you need to keep a book longer than three weeks, either leave a note in the box that holds the checked out book cards or email barbcleveland@comcast.net.
- Any member of the church.
- Any friend or visitor who completes an information card (found on the sign- out counter in a file box).
- Memorial Record Book – All memorial donations to our library with the name of the person and the donor are listed is this Book. Each donated book has a memorial book plate with the honoree’s name.
- There is an active Birthday Book Club for children. For a $20 donation the individual may select a book title from a suggested age appropriate list. The form to sign up and list is available in the library in a holder next to the door. The honoree may be the first to check out his selected book. There is a special book plate with the honoree’s name in the book. During the children’s sermon time the honoree receives the book to check out and a certificate to keep.
- A Winter reading Program is availible to chidren up to 4th grade. Bookmarks, treats, certificates, and other prizes are given for their reading efforts.
- In the summer, an 8-week Summer Bible Story Hour programe will be held after Bible School. A Bible story and other story will be read and discussed. A coloring page will be handed out while others are choosing books for the week. Every week the child will receive a prize and treat. Grand finale certificates and prizes for each age group will be awarded at the end of the session.
- Sature Morning Book Chat is our popular library book discussion group for men and women of all ages. A book is read and then reviewed and discussed with various people acting as facilitator. A light breakfast is served. This popular event is help 4-5 times a year.
- Memorial Record Book
In the Adult Section the fiction books are arranged alphabetically by the author’s last name. The non-fiction books are arranged by the Dewey Decimal system with labels to help you search by category.
We have books, videos, CD’s, tapes and magazines.

In the Children’s Section the books are arranged by grade level
- BB – board books for toddlers
- jP – picture books, 1st and 2nd grades
- jE – 3rd and 4th grades (arranged alphabetically by author’s last name)
- jZ – easy readers (arranged by levels 1-4)
- CHP BKS – chapter books (arranged alphabetically by author’s last name)
There is a Reference Section of books especially about the Bible that may be used only in the library.
The library has fiction & non-fiction books on the Adult level, Young Adult, and five age-levels for Children and Toddlers. There is a magazines rack locatd in the library. It contains current issues of Biblical Archaeology Review, Christianity Today, Guideposts, Positive Thinking, and Presbyterians Today.
There is a special computer in the library containing Bible Computer games and puzzles for children.
- A library volunteer could serve on the library board and attend 4-5 meetings per year.
- Check out and shelving books.
- Change bullentin boards
- Enter new books into the computer system, this includes stamping books, pasting pockets, and applying labels.
The purpose of the library is to support the missions of New Hope Presbyterian Church. The library will provide a well rounded collection of Christian resources. The library will uphold the teaching, preaching and fellowship efforts of the congregation of New Hope Presbyterian Church. This will help individuals of all ages develop an understanding of their faith and their full potential as children of God and workers in God’s kingdom.
Our vision is to support the membership of New Hope and to encourage them to search for Biblical based solutions to life’s challenges and to provide a variety of media to aid in their Christian walk.
